VFW head blasts DC over halted death benefits, officials scramble to fix problem

foxnews.com - The head of the Veterans of Foreign Wars blasted the White House and Congress on Wednesday after death benefits were suspended for families of fallen soldiers due to the partial government shutdown -- as officials scrambled to correct the problem."It is absolutely appalling and nothing short of a travesty that elected officials continue to receive paychecks and benefits while not providing for those who deserve it most," said William Thien, the VFW national commander.
